Portneuf Valley Fun Run/Walk Race Series
Each summer the Pocatello Parks and Rec group puts on a series of races. Participants are invited to run or walk one, several or all of the races.
The fun run series consists of 5 events from May through September. They cost $16 each or $70 for a 5 pack. We also have youth and family pricing. Every event offers 2.5K, 5K and 10K run and walk categories. You get points for your finish place and at the end of the year everyone that finishes 4 out of 5 races gets a bonus prize and point leaders get a gift certificate. Each race has a t-shirt, several thousand dollars in draw prizes, food, music and a really attractive emcee. This is the granddaddy of Pocatello running events- going back about 30 years according to legend. I can verify 10 of those myself. The first one was held on my first birthday and I while I run at about the same pace now my memory of those days is foggy.
Advanced registration is encouraged and can be handled at the Parks and Recreation office at 144 Wilson ave or online at Active.com. You can also register at each race.
